While transportation infrastructure spending is an important way to create new jobs, we need to ensure that we keep public transportation jobs. Many representatives are asking Pelosi to increase the transportation provisions in the house jobs bill, which includes 10% flexible funding for operational costs, to $15 billion. Transportation Equity Network urges Congress to enact this flexible funding, which can protect states from making drastic service cuts and protect individuals from future layoffs, increased fares, and additional service cuts.

I'll believe it when I see it. We spend 2% of the federal budget on transportation infrastructure and it shows. For the price of the war until Memorial Day we could pay for the entire California rail project. The hyped up Orlando-Tampa line is only the cost of our wars for a week.
