Hooray for Jim Oberstar! Transportation is only 3% of the federal budget and it shows. We have bridges falling into the river and airlines so poorly regulated that near minimum wage pilots are allowed to fly airline planes through ice storms.

Turkey has high speed rail and is building another line. We could build five such lines and it wouldn't even be a rounding error on the federal budget. Meanwhile the Republicans would rather make snide remarks about "magic trains to Disneyland" and rather we ride ox-carts than spend a dime of tax money on transportation.

Thanks for giving these informative summaries. There's no way I could slog through all of this on my own.
